After finishing my medical degree at the University of Gothenburg I was given the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Elias Eriksson at the Department of Pharmacology in Gothenburg. My Ph.D. project focused on the acute effects of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) when used for major depression. We investigated this using patient-level data from a comprehensive pool of randomized clinical trials conducted by the pharmaceutical industry, and has published a number of papers relating to the efficacy, safety, dose-response, etc. of the SSRIs. I defended my Ph.D. thesis in the spring of 2019 and will presently embark on a two-year post-doc stay at the Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University under Prof. Søren Dinesen Østergaard, where we will conduct similar work focused on schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
